Saturday 15 June
Performance of the traditional zarzuela “Foc i Fum”, 8pm at the Teatre de Ciutadella (Calós).
Vetlla des Be (The Vigil of the sheep) at Carrer d’Anselm Pujol, 37, from 8.30pm throughout the night.
Sunday 16 June
Dia des Be (Day of the sheep), starting at the Caixer Senyor’s house (Carrer Sant Geroni) at 9am, then going round to the town hall and the bishop’s palace, continuing around the town right throughout the day, finishing at the Caixer Casat’s house (Carrer Sant Antoni Maria Claret 83).
Performance of the traditional zarzuela “Foc i Fum”, 12 noon at the Teatre de Ciutadella (Calós).
In the evening at about 8pm there is the traditional battle of hazelnuts on the Contramurada. The hazelnuts are intended to represent kisses. The Municipal Music Band plays by Calós bar.
Friday 22 June
Sant Joan bonfires at various points throughout the town, with music and dancing from 9pm onwards.
Saturday 23 June: Eve of Sant Joan
2pm: The fabioler (piper) asks the Caixer Senyor for permission to start the gathering of the horses and riders, from the Caixer Senyor’s house (Carrer Sant Geroni). The Fiesta flag is handed over by the wife of the Caixer Casat to the Caixer Fadrí (at Carrer Sant Antoni Maria Claret 83). The horses gather in the Plaça des Born, awaiting the arrival of the Caixer Senyor, who canters into the Born at 6pm sharp.
The whole cavalcade sets off to Sant Joan de Missa for Vespers, at about 7:30pm.
Meanwhile, there is another traditional battle of hazelnuts on the Contramurada.
The horses make their way back into town for the Corregudes de sa Plaça at about 10pm and the Caragol de Santa Clara, at about 11:30pm.
Sunday 24 June: The day of Sant Joan
8am: The fabioler asks the Caixer Senyor again for permission to start the gathering of the horses and riders.
10am: the horses head down to Es Pla for the heats of the jousting games. They then return to the Born for the Corregudes a ses Voltes, carrying on to Santa Clara for the Caragol. This is followed by Mass in the Cathedral at about 2:30pm.
5pm: The horses and riders gather once more. They make their way to the Plaça Born and at about 7pm, the Caixer Senyor invites the townspeople to come down to Es Pla for the jousting games. On the way down to the port, the cavalcade calls into Santa Clara convent to pay respects to the Abbess.
The jousting games take place throughout the evening in Es Pla, before returning up to the Cathedral Square for the Corregudes a sa Plaça and the Caragol de Santa Clara at about 00:30am, finishing in the early hours of the morning. The last notes of the flute are played at Cal Bisbe, at about 5am.
