Firstly, the team at ROQUETA would like to say a personal thank you to the very many of you who have sent your condolences to Duncan’s family – your kind messages have been very much appreciated.
As we now turn towards the Autumn, the crowds have started to disperse and we can only hope that Menorca has been able to retrieve some of the tourist revenues to sustain businesses going forward to next year. It has been great to see lots of new places across all sectors opening over the last few months and let’s hope that will continue. We are all rather fed up now with covid and somehow we have to bring things back on track to go forward to get back to normal, not just here in Menorca but in the rest of the world.
Continuing with positivity, airlines have thankfully managed to get plenty of visitors out here, mostly from all over Europe – hopefully we will have the report from the airport chief for the December edition.
Other good news is that restaurants and bars have been full (and sometimes almost impossible to book!), car hire and property management companies have been busy, which is also fantastic to hear. Estate agencies are also seeing increased sales in Menorca – so it is a very positive vibe going forward. Menorca is also receiving a lot of press coverage in the UK national papers too, which can only help to boost the economy here post covid.
Vaccinations are now at around 79% with people double vaccinated in Menorca at the time of writing this foreword and cases are finally decreasing – let’s hope that continues.
For those of you who are in Menorca and hopefully for those of you who can be here over the next few months, it’s time now to look forward again to the autumn months ahead – to enjoy walking the wonderful Cami Cavalls, swimming in the uncrowded sea, enjoying the nature delights of the birds, especially at Es Grau S’Albufera, or cycling through the gorgeous country lanes. Take a trip with Javier at Walking Birds, do the jeep safari, visit La Mola, San Felipe, Isla del Rey and the gallery, plus all the other wonderful art galleries and museums – do all the things you might not have had time for over the busy summer months – it’s so wonderful to continue to support all that is local. One of the best things to do when you are in Menorca either as a resident or just simply visiting, is to pack a rucksack with drinks/snacks and just head off to have a day exploring this fabulous Island – so much to see and discover off the beaten track.
If you have any suggestions for the above, please do let us know – it would be great to feature your special places. To do so please use our contact form.
In the meantime, take care and Happy October from all the ROQUETA Team!
