What a year we are having. So much uncertainty with no end in sight. It is very unsettling.
It is quite a challenge getting the magazine out each month as things seem to go from bad to worse. We want to keep the content relevant and are forever having to scrap articles for a number of reasons, especially with news of visitors from the UK having flights cancelled left, right and centre. We have a pile of well-crafted articles that we have had to shelve as they become outdated and quickly replaced with others.
Our key focus has been to carry content that will be interesting to our loyal digital readers who are either living in Menorca or are frequent visitors. Our mantra is to help you all keep in touch with what is happening on the island.
It means that the Island News is a key ingredient, and we still list a What’s On section although many of the events are cancelled last minute. Both articles hopefully show that the island is trying to carry on as best it can in a normal way.
We have introduced a few more guest writers with more general content, and we hope you enjoy reading them. We have carried on with the Eating Out. The restaurants have been quite busy over the past few weeks, mainly with Spanish visitors, so it is more a point of reference for the future. Cooking and recipes are timeless, and whether you try the dishes at home in the UK or here on the island, I am sure you will enjoy the tastes of the Med wherever you are. We also have a few of the local gatherings to report, but most are still not meeting regularly, so it is a slimmed down version.
Like the BBC, we have re-introduced one or two articles from our library of previous editions. They are mainly historical focussed, so are timeless, and we are hoping some may have missed them first time round or find a re-read rewarding.
Our hope is that 2021 will bring some more joy for us all. We are determined to get back to a position where we print the magazine again. We are always so proud to see it racked in the many outlets we have, sitting next door to other international publications. It must be Menorca’s best seller.
Thanks to all of you who have been sending in kind words of support over the past few months. It really is appreciated.
Let’s all keep doing what we have been advised to do to keep a lid on the virus, and hope that a vaccine will be available soon.
Chins up.
