We are in full swing now. For those visiting on holiday, welcome and we hope you enjoy your stay.
ROQUETA offers both residents and visitors a very comprehensive What’s On guide, so that we can all enjoy the huge amount that’s on offer, from cultural events to horse riding.
As it is July we have more of a focus on information for visitors. There are some ideas on beaches, eating out, the great bus service here, some inside tips on Spanish wines at reasonable prices, and some recipes you may want to try during your visit. We have a special fashion section with suggestions for evening wear for a glamorous night out.
For everyone we have the regular features on gardening, the book club and reports on many of the societies and clubs that the residents and guests organise to create such a fulfilling social life here. There’s the regular column on the fruit and veg of the month, this time, the tomato. And don’t forget the Island News. Taken from the daily newspaper, it is a collection of serious matters and some quirky news stories.
Meet the international celebrity opera singer from Alaior and the British lady who has been at the helm of horse trotting races for over 25 years.
The magazine has a strong focus on the environment this year, and in particular the environmental issues that might affect Menorca and the natural beauty of the island we so enjoy. We need to make sure we protect it for generations to come.
If anyone has any comment, then please mail me at duncan@roquetamagazine.net. I will always respond.
Let’s enjoy the summer!

The Roqueta Environment Question Time that unfortunately needed to be recently postponed has been rearranged for Thursday 12 July at Jardí Ses Bruixes in Mahón. 6pm for 6.30pm.
We have confirmed senior representatives on the panel from the Consell Insular, GOB and the Menorcan Preservation Fund, so expect a lively debate on environmental issues for Menorca.
If you are interested in Menorca and the future environment, then please join us. Angie will be sending out an email to all those who confirmed last time, but if any of you want to join us on the night, please send an email to angie@roquetamagazine.net.
Electricity, water, plastic, tourism, biosphere, whatever you find relevant and want answers to.
If you are coming and would like a direct question asked of the panel then please send it in.
